Originally Jamie started out on go karts at 3 years old, but after about 8 months we found that he just wasn’t interested it just didn’t give him that little buzz he wanted. So in my infinite wisdom i bought him a small MX bike of which we went to our local track every single weekend for well over a year and it was at this point i new he was meant to be on 2 wheels.
At 5 years old we came away from MX because our local circuit closed down and it became really hard work going to tracks miles away, so we took up mini moto racing. We started at a small circuit called Angmering race way just out side worthing, jamie and i spent almost every single weekend training down there until one of our friends we met down there (Jon Farr) suggested that we put him into the british championship (FAB Racing)- This was where scott redding, danny kent, danny webb etc started their careers.
On our very first visit we was very much over whelmed with paddock and level of young riders at such a young age, so this was the beginning of actual racing (at 6 years old).
Jamie then spent 3.5 years racing all over the UK and wales on air cooled mini motos, production water cooled mini motos and metrakit 50s
at 9 years old jamie became champion on water-cooled mini motos and metrakit 50 with a large margin.
All this time from the age of 5 Danny webb has been by Jamie side as rider coach and he suggested that we take him to race in the spanish championships when he became allegeable which was 10 years old, so the timing was perfect and we carried out a test at Calafat circuit in spain on a GP80 2 stroke bike, first time on a bigger cc bike and big circuit so we new he had his work cut out. However by the end of the test he was just as quick as the spanish riders and so thats when his spanish career started.
Jamie has a very strong fitness programme, boxing, gymnastics, gym, running, cycling and county rugby, having both Danny webb and James toseland by his side has been a massive positive for jamie and we all believe with his determination , fitness and the want to win we can see him in the moto gp paddock over the next few years- its brilliant that we have time on our side
Year by Year
we started out the season in the DMC Junior team but the team dissolved 6 months in and that when my good friend Hector faubel took jamie under his wing, we finished that season on the Moto 4 bike ( BeOn Chassis with honda crf150 engine) and the last round jamie was battling for podium where he lost out to 3rd place by 0.2 of a second, so we new going into 2016 we should be close to the front.
2016- (RFME) -Moto 4
started the season at Albacete where jamie finished 2nd position with fastest lap of the race, and throuhght the season getting another 2nd place finish in montmelo barcelona ,over all jamie finished 4th in the championship out of 29 riders.
2017 (RFME) pre moto 3
MIR Chassis with KTM 250SXF engine- started the season off very well but the bike had many many issues so between me, jamie and hector decided that we should not continue on this path but concentrate on the new ETC. All season jamie has progressed massively and at aragon lost out on the win by 0.1 seconds and it was a superb race start to finish.
2018- ETC & BTC
ETC we are not 100% confirmed on teams as of yet but we have many options but we start testing in the next few weeks regardless. BTC we have our official test at the beginning of march in valencia for 3 days . I know jamie is going to be a very strong candidate in both championships even tho he will only be 13 where as many others are 15 +
